BAE Systems has been awarded a $270 million contract to upgrade seven Royal Australian Navy ANZAC class frigates, with the Anti-Ship Missile Defence (ASMD) capability. The new contract follows the successful upgrade of HMAS Perth in early 2011.
Our shipyard in Henderson, Western Australia, will be used to carry out the majority of this project through to its completion in 2017. To meet the demand of this exciting new work, applications are now welcome for upcoming Quality Control positions in our team.
Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Controllers are responsible for all quality matters, as well as providing support to quality activities undertaken within the Business Assurance group and on an as required basis, to project quality tasks.
Key duties will include, but are not limited to:
• Conducting project and site quality activities to demonstrate compliance to contracted and company requirements.
• Using process surveillance auditing to ensure that the processes used comply with customer and company procedures.
• Monitoring the system for the control of non-conforming product by overseeing nonconformance product reporting, test failure reporting, identification and quarantine of non-conforming product and action to prevent recurrence.
• Overseeing the completion of the corrective and preventative action process for actions arising from any of the project's audit activities.
• Facilitating continuous improvement work practices using best practice quality tools to reduce process variation and remove non valued added activities.
As an ideal applicant, you will have:
• Extensive experience managing and/or auditing processes in a maintenance or defence environment.
• A diploma or certificate level qualification in a relevant field coupled with formal Quality Auditor training from a recognised institution.
• A sound understanding of ISO requirements.
• Proficient computer skills combined with knowledge of common word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
