As you are well aware, the last 6 months have been very good for environmental consultancies in general. Increased levels of project work have made contaminated land specialists (especially those with Auditor accreditation or has directly assisted an auditor) highly sought after.

With most principal roles, you would expect your time to be dominated with either, business development, technical work or your team. But, this role will suit someone who is looking for a role which suits their technical focus. With the business development for this team taken care of (there is already a Principal with a primary focus on BD), you will be utilised for your technical abilities on current and new project work. The projects you will be directing will be for high end clients over mining and oil & gas. With the technical work, comes the opportunity to help develop the current environmental team to your high standards. The team comprises a good mix of experienced Seniors as well as some good intermediate scientists.

Moving to a role, where your employer has both a national and global reach, will give you access to some of the best technical people and ideas in the contam field. With this reach comes the opportunity to not be pigeon holed in WA or sector specific projects (variety is essential). While the legislations and methodologies may be different, this will give you the opportunity to develop something unique to the contam field. Projects in Queensland, South Australia and South East Asia are on the cards for you.
